Hope continues to Bloom in Halifax

On November 22, 2011 DND Formation Administration staff in Halifax hosted a GCWCC Gourmet Luncheon.  The luncheon fundraiser was well attended, and consisted of a gourmet 4-course meal fit for an all-star guest list.  Keeping with the idea of giving back to the community, the salad dressing used during the meal, Hope Blooms’ Maple Sage Balsamic, was created by 32 pre-teen and teenage entrepreneurs from downtown Halifax who participate in the Hope Blooms project.  Hope Blooms is a registered charity directed at helping Halifax inner-city at-risk youth learn how to grow food, prepare it, feed their community, and how to start a small business from the ground up.

DND’s commitment to helping Hope Blooms didn’t just begin this year.  Last year, for Days of Caring, the DND team built Hope Blooms a greenhouse to help extend the youth’s participation in the project throughout the year.

Hope certainly does continue to Bloom in Halifax.
